'Twas the night before Christmas, (The holiday, from school)
And upstairs in Purple Class, we had quite a ball.
The stocking was hung on the washing line with care
With rumours a visitor soon would be there.
The tree was lit up, the tinsel was hung
And songs of midwinter our chorus had sung.
The curtain had closed on our fab Christmas show
We'd feasted on Turkey and made flakes of snow -
When at last the time came for our class Christmas do
We'd all brought in treats and Christmas cards too.
So we dined on chocolate, sweeties and cake
And oh what a terrible mess we did make.
Then it was time for a jolly old dance -
Like reindeer around and around we did prance.
With the end of the day drawing nearer and nearer
We got ready to play out in air that was clearer;
When all of a sudden Father Christmas appeared!
Bringing presents and elves and a wonderful beard.
We cheered and we clapped for the red-suited man
Of the presents especially the class was a fan!
When all of the presents and wishes were shared
Santa left for Year 1 with more presents prepared.
But we heard him exclaim, as we now to you cheer
Happy Christmas to all, and see you next year!
